CATL and Shanghai International Port Group Sign Strategic Cooperation Agreement
On August 28, Shanghai International Port Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "SIPG") and CATL held a signing ceremony for a strategic cooperation agreement.
The ceremony was attended by Gu Jinshan, Party Secretary and Chairman of SIPG; Wang Haijian, Vice President of SIPG; Liu Changman, General Manager of the Production and Operations Department of SIPG; Zeng Yuqun, Chairman and CEO of CATL; Wu Yingming, Chairman of CATL's Supervisory Board and Chair of the Ecological Development Committee; and Zhuang Chunlei, Special Assistant to the Chairman of CATL. Liu Tao, Vice President of SIPG, and Zheng Yelai, Assistant to the Chairman of CATL and General Manager of CATL's Zero-Carbon Technology Division, signed the agreement on behalf of the two parties.

According to the agreement, SIPG and CATL will deepen their collaboration in areas such as green ports, smart ports, and zero-carbon port construction. The partnership will focus on building energy infrastructure, transitioning logistics to low-carbon solutions, electrifying vehicles, vessels, and engineering machinery, upgrading port digitalization and smart systems, and recycling used batteries. Together, they aim to promote the low-carbon energy transition and sustainable development of the port and shipping industries.
Battery recycling has long been a critical component of CATL's industrial strategy. In 2023, CATL recycled 100,000 tons of battery waste, using it to produce 13,000 tons of lithium carbonate.
