Guangdong Weima New Materials’ Technical Upgrade for Recycling Waste Power Lithium Battery Powder
Recently, the Shaoguan Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment publicly announced the acceptance of the environmental impact report for Guangdong Weima New Materials Co., Ltd.'s technical upgrade project focused on recycling waste power lithium battery powder.
The project involves a total investment of approximately 300 million yuan and is located in the Nonferrous Metals Circular Economy Industrial Base in Renhua County, Guangdong Province. The project's raw materials have been revised from waste power lithium batteries to directly sourced waste power lithium battery powder (ternary powder). According to the report, 30,000 tons/year of dismantled ternary batteries yield approximately 14,850 tons/year of ternary powder. Consequently, the project's total design capacity has been adjusted to 14,850 tons/year based on the direct use of ternary powder.
Upon completion, the main products will include nickel sulfate, cobalt sulfate, manganese sulfate, and battery-grade lithium carbonate, along with sodium sulfate as a byproduct.
Notably, the original projects of Shaoguan Zhonghong Metal Industrial Co., Ltd. (with a capacity of 3,000 tons/year of nickel products) and Shaoguan Zhongda Zinc Industry Co., Ltd. (with a capacity of 15,000 tons/year of zinc oxide) have been discontinued, freeing up space for the development of Guangdong Weima New Materials' project.
This initiative is expected to promote resource recycling, enhance the development of upstream and downstream industries, increase local tax revenue, boost economic growth, and create job opportunities, delivering substantial social benefits.
